I first met Shay (Deffa) at a Tent City Peace Movement event in Richmond, CA. I was inspired by her talent, as well as the message in her lyrics. I later learned she was one of the first openly gay rappers, and had been invited to perform at Pride parades across the nation. She's got an incredible work ethic and is wise beyond her years.
